How to prepare for General Awareness for SSC CGL 2018?
The most important and scoring
section of SSC CGL Tier I Exam is
General Awareness. You do not need any special knowledge or any formula or any
trick to solve this section of examination. All you need is to stay updated
regarding current affairs and general knowledge to score high in this section.
Idly you can attempt and score 80-90 percentage in this section. So you just
need to be smart and consistent to score good here.
GA is as important as other section
so do not think to ignore this section of examination. GA is important as this
section saves a lot of time as there is no calculation or concepts required to
answer. One can easily score 20 marks .

-58% of questions are from Static GK
37% of questions are from science
-5% of questions are general.

Static GK-
Culture ;Indian history ;geography ;environment ;economy ;polity
Science-
Biology, chemistry, physics and space science
;computer and mobile technology, nutrition and disease

Current affairs, important dates, portfolios
schemes and general knowledge.
Now that we know marks of each topic in
general awareness section let us know things we should NOT do while preparing
for it.
· Do NOT focus ONLY on current affairs section.
· Weightage of
Static GK is comparatively higher so focus more on that topic
· Prepare smartly. Do NOT focus on only one section.
· Although, it is also not wise to say ignore Current
Affairs completely, but do not invest too much time in them.

Polity-
Indian Polity by M. Laxmikanth. also attempt to solve questions in NIOS study
material and Lucent books.
2.
History-
Start with Tamil Nadu State Education Board textbooks of class 11 and 12. Also
go through Lucent’s GK book .
3.
Geography
-Start NCERT Textbooks for Social Science Class 7 to 10 and for Geography Class
11, 12.
4.
Economy
- NCERT’s Economy book of Class 11 (India’s Economy & Development) for
basic idea of Indian Economy.
5.
Science-
NCERT textbooks of Science from class 6 to 10.
6.
Miscellaneous-
Lucent’s GK book.
